Malicious or Malizia is a 1973 classic Italian comedy flick directed by Salvatore Samperi. The original title Malizia is Italian for the English word “malice”..which literally means ‘wrongful intention’.
With stars like Laura Antonelli, Turi Ferro, Tina Aumont, Alessandro Momo, it was the most controversial movie of the 70s, with a highly mature theme, way ahead of it’s time.
The film deals with the parallel desire of a widower (Turi Ferro) and his three sons for their new housekeeper. He falls in love with his new housekeeper, but then later realizes that he is not the only man in his home wishing to have an affair with the housekeeper.
Malizia challenges the sexual taboo of it’s time by mixing and presenting such themes, as a red blooded teenager harassing an unprotected single woman, her patience in dealing with such nusicance and eventually her rapacious response.
After the death of his wife, Don Ignazio (Turi Ferro), a father of three sons (aged 18, 14 and 6) decides to hire an incredibly attractive young housekeeper whose name is Angela (Laura Antonelli). He soon becomes quite engaged to her. He goes on to find out that he isn’t the only one wishing for an affair with Angela and his sons are also quite infatuated with Angela.
Each one of them uses innovative ideas to approach her,to capture this innocent,naïve young woman, only to get a glimpse of her body. However, only one of them succeeds in conquering her and capturing her heart; the middle son, a teenager named Nino (Alessandro Momo). He later blackmails her into tolerating his increasing aggressive behavior and physical sexual harassment.
Malizia shocked the common man as well as the entertainment industry, when it was released 43 years ago, with a story-line only a few daring souls would convert into a movie.
Like a vintage wine, this movie gained momentum and popularity as decades passed by.Many clips from Malizia are all over YouTube, gaining millions of views in a matter of few days. While new movie teasers fade out after a few thousand views.
Untimely demise of a very young Alessandro Momo (in his teens), who passed away when Malizia was not even a year old, added fuel to the fire.. of an already controversial movie.
