Beatles - The White Album
The White Album was one of Beatles' very last albums before they split in early 1970.
It was only during the recording of The White Album, noticeable friction appeared among the band members.
With tempers flaring everywhere, band members accusing, shouting at each other, producer George Martin went on a holiday while the recording session was still in progress.
John Lennon often turned up to the recording sessions high on heroin along with his girl friend Yoko Ono,looking 'stoned' most of the times.
Other band members including Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr were not amused by Ono's presence in the studio, which led to frequent quarrel amongst the great Beatles with Ringo Starr offering to quit on the spot.
George Martin was disrespected many a times during the recording sessions for The White Album, forcing him to abandon the recording sessions, to avoid any serious relationship break down with the band members.
He left leaving chief sound engineer Geoff Emerick as incharge, who was taken for a ride by the Beatles and resigned in a hurry, never to step on Beatles' Abbey Road Studios ever again. If not for McCartney and Lennon,The White Album would have been Beatles' last.
Released November 1968, the album became no.1 all over the world, with just a blank white color as it's cover, selling more than 252,000 copies in the first week of it's release.
Such was the influence of The Beatles in the 60s, even a white noise with white cover would have become no.1, if it were to be released by The Beatles.
