"It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" is a very popular Christmas song by Andy Williams. The song was written by Edward Pola and George Wyle in triple time in 1963.
The song was then recorded and released the same year by Andy for his Christmas album. The song was however not released as a promotional single by his record label Columbia Records the same year.
Instead, they opted to promote his cover of “White Christmas” as the promo single from the album.
Andy Williams has recorded a total of 44 albums in his career, and 15 of these have been certified Gold and three certified Platinum.
He had a television show The Andy Williams Show, which he hosted and has been nominated for six Grammy Awards.
He is one of the artists who has sold more than 100 million records worldwide including 10.5 million of these in the United States.
"It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" is a celebration song and a description of the activities that are associated with the festive season.
Among the activities in the song is the telling of scary ghost stories, that are a tradition of Victorian Christmas celebrations but has fallen into disuse.
Other activities described in the song are party hosting, universal social gaiety, roasting marshmallows, spending time with loved ones and spontaneous visits from friends.
