Released in August 2013, Lady Gaga said in an interview revealed that her fans inspired her to write the song, who cheered her on during her injury on the tour for her second album, “Born This Way”.
“Born This Way” which was released in 2011 was a huge hit, selling over 1 million copies in the first week alone. The album included her chart topping single, “Born This Way”.
The song topped the charts in 25 countries and with 8.2 million copies of the single sold... “Born This Way” is listed amongst the best selling singles of all time.
Artpop her third album debuted at the number 1 spot on the US Billboard 200 charts,sold over 250,000 copies in the first week.
It topped the charts in several countries and received a Platinum certification from Canada, Japan, Brazil, France and Mexico.
In the U.S Artpop sold over 758,000 copies and the worlwide collections for Artpop, the album exceeded 2.5 million copies. It eventually became the 9th bestselling album of 2013.
The second single of the album was the song “Do What You Want”. It was released in October of 2013 peaking at the 13th spot in the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
The last single of the album was the song “G.U.Y”. Lady Gaga promoted her third album with several performances and interviews.
She also did TV appearances and released two songs “Dope” and “Venus” to promote Artpop. She also did a Thanksgiving Day Special, for the second time.
