Katie Hasty of Hitflix said the song was damned near perfect followed by an A+ on the writing, Chris William representing Yahoo claimed it was weird and wonderful while Billboard gave the track a four and a half rating out of five.
Having scored a slot on the Billboard Hot 100, "out of the woods" sold over 1,000,000 copies beating Taylor’s “shake it off” track to the carb.
To date, the video has garnered over 119 million views on YouTube. Taylor has performed the song live in various countries and some of her fans have had the luck of singing alongside her and in person.
