Usher co-wrote the song with Que Smith, LRoc, Ludacris, Lil Jon, Robert McDowell and Sean Garrett but only featured guest vocal from Ludacris and Lil Jon during the production of the song.
The song was released on 27 January 2004 and topped the Billboard hot 100 chart in the US for 12 consecutive weeks before another of Usher’s hit “Burn” dethroned it.
“Yeah” was the longest-running number one single that year and it went on to receive a similar reception in other countries topping in other charts including Australia, Canada, Belgium, Norway, and Germany.
It received two platinum certification in New Zealand and was certified platinum in other countries.
"Yeah" was nominated for Record of the year awards at the Grammy awards and won The Best Rap/Song Collaboration in the same year at the Grammys.
It sold over 4 million copies in 2013 in the US and was the second track on the Hot 100 decade-end chart, after “We Belong Together” by Mariah Carey which took the first spot, Mr. X directed the music video.
Mr.X along with Usher combined ideas to create a killer music video. The two had worked together on Usher's other singles such as “U Got it Bad” and “U Don’t Have to Call”.
The video shows Usher entering a club when a woman approaches him and attempts to seduce him.
The video continues to show Usher performing choreography in the club, backed by male dancers and female dancers in the performance before Lil Jon and Ludacris rap their verses.
Since it’s released on YouTube, the song has already garnered 129,233,432 views as on September 2017.
