The up-tempo dance-pop song “wild ones” was released on December 19, 2012, by Atlantic Poe Boy records who worked hand in hand with rapper Flo Rida.
It was pulled out from his fourth studio album The Same Name featuring the Australian vocalist Sia.
FloRida wrote the track alongside soFLY & Nius, Marcus Cooper, Jacob Luttrell, Sia Furler Axwell, Niklaas Vogel-Kern while production was done by Axwell, soFLY, and Nius.
Upon its release, “wild ones” peaked at number one in various countries Australia included while the US Billboard Hot 100 saw it at number five.
Along with the song “good feeling”, the track was selected as the official theme song for the show Wrestle Mania XXVIII.
With over 6.5 million copies sold globally by December 2012, “wild ones” was nominated for the 2013 Grammy Awards for the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.
Commercially, it was a success that led to a certified triple platinum courtesy of RIAA and saw a 3 million sale in the UK only.
The music video was released on February 9, 2012, as directed by Eric White.
Though Sia does not appear in the video, Flo Rida is seen partying in Dubai and Miami together with Cuban model Dayami Padron.
He performed the track on the last episode of The Voice’s second season; at the 2012 Much Music Video Awards he sang with Carly Rae Jepsen; and at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards, he sang with Stacy Reigns.
With over 402 million YouTube views, “Wild Ones” has received several remixes, mash-ups and was featured in the trailer of Kung Fu Panda 3.
As a best selling single globally, the track is available for digital downloads and YouTube channels host a series of its remixes, live performances, and videos.
“Whistle” has been compared to several tracks, but it still stands out on it's own.
