Product Description
Speed (1994)(#ad)
If you think Speed is not the fastest-moving action adventure movie ever created, challenge yourself to find a faster one. The movie’s protagonist is Jack Traven, played by Keanu Reeves, a bomb defusing specialist working in the LA Bomb Squad who has his focus on the antagonist Howard Payne, played by Dennis Hopper.
Payne sought vengeance after his recent ransom event got foiled by leading a city bus into a complete destruction, which is also a challenge to Traven. The city bus is set to detonate when its speedometer reaches below 50 miles per hour.
Speed, in this day and age, may seem like just one of those many movies, but it doesn’t stop its excitement as soon as the plot starts on the main story.
While the movie may seem old in this day and age, those who haven’t seen the movie yet can view it either on Netflix or in Amazon Prime Video.

Plot
Jack Traven with his fellow Los Angeles SWAT office Harry Temple was able to foil a bomber’s plan in holding an elevator filled with people for a ransom worth $3 million.
Both Traven and Temple were able to corner the bomber, but he grabbed a hold of Temple. Traven shoots the leg of Temple, which forced the bomber to let go of him. The scene shows like the bomber is turning away, making it look like he died along with the explosion from the device he made.
Traven and Temple were praised for a job well done by their superior Lt. McMahon and got awarded with medals for their bravery.
A little later into the movie, Traven witnesses a city bus blow up. He got contacted by the bomber from their incident in the elevator some time ago, telling him that he is healthy and well.
He explains that he planted a similar bomb into a city bus and will operate when it hits the 50 miles per hour mark on the speedometer and will detonate if it will go below it.
This time, the bomber demands a higher ransom of $3.7 million and has an additional condition to get it - he will blow up the city bus when all the passengers get offloaded.
Traven races through the traffic and was able to catch up to the city bus that was planted with the bomb. However, by the time he arrived at the city bus, it was already running at 50 mph. He was able to ride on the bus and explains the whole situation with the city bus driver Sam, played by Hawthorne James, and to the rest of the passengers.
But somebody in the bus fired a shot on Sam. It was a small time criminal that fired his gun, who thought that he was going to get arrested by the officer on board. Sam was okay but wounded.
Another passenger took the driver’s place, Annie Porter played by Sandra Bullock. Traven then examines the bomb planted under the city bus. He then phones his partner Temple, using clues on identifying the bomber.
At this point, the police cleared a route for the city bus into the 105 freeway. Lt. Mac demands that they offload all the passengers through a pacing flatbed truck, but was never pushed through because of the bomber’s demands.
However, Sam was allowed to get offloaded for medical attention, yet the bomber detonated a small bomb, killing a passenger that attempted to escape.
As Traven learned that the freeway they are passing is incomplete, he instructed Annie to accelerate the speed and jump through the gap. He then further gave instructions to go through the Los Angeles International Airport in order to drive through the runways.
Temple identified the bomber as Howard Payne, an official part of the Atlanta bomb squad, but retired. A SWAT team was sent to the address where Howard Payne was living together with Temple. However, it was fully rigged with bombs that it killed most of the team, including Harry Temple.
Traven then rides the city bus via a towed sledge, but he can’t defuse the bomb and along the way, the fuel tank got punctured. He then learned that his partner got killed and also the city bus was monitored by Payne through a hidden camera.
Lt. Mac got a news crew to report the transmission on a continuous loop in order to fool the bomber as the passengers are slowly offloaded into a bus from the airport before all the fuel from the tank disappears.
The city bus got a flat tire, which forced Traven and Annie to escape through an access panel on the floor. With the city bus empty and slowing down to 50 mph, it exploded just as it reached the empty cargo plane.
Traven and Lt. McMahon continued on to Pershing Square in order to give the ransom. Knowing that he was been fooled, Payne poses as a police officer and took hostage of Annie. Traven pursued Annie, but he found her wearing a vest rigged with explosives that go off on pressure.
Payne then hijacks a train in the subway, securing Annie’s hands to a pole with a handcuff and runs the train while Traven pursues them.
Payne attempts to bribe using the ransom money but got enraged as soon as the dye pack in the bag blows up. Payne and Traven got into a fight, up until Payne got his head cut off as it runs through an overhead signal.
