Army of Darkness is a Hollywood horror comedy movie directed by Sam Raimi, written by Raimi and along with his brother Ivan.
This is the third installation of the Evil Dead franchise, produced by Robert Tapert.
The story of this movie is quite interesting in which a man is accidentally transported to 1300 A.D where he battles with the dead and tries to retrieve Necronomicons to get back home.
Plot Summary
The story begins with Ash, who is transported to 1300 AD along with his car, Ash is played by Bruce Campbell.
There, he gets captured by Lord Arthur (Marcus Gilbert) who has slaved Duke Henry (Richard Grove) and a couple of his men.
Arthur suspects Ash as Henry’s Agent and throws them to a pit where Ash regains his power by killing two monsters.
He successfully won the respect of Arthur army and vassals.He demands for freedom of Henry and his men.
Meanwhile, he develops affection for Sheila (Embeth Davidtz) who is the sister of Arthur’s fallen knight.
According to a Wise Man (Ian Abercrombie), the only way Ash can get back to his own world is through magical Necronomicon Ex Mortis. From there, the search for Necronomicons starts.
He enters a haunted forest where an unseen force throws Ash into the windmill.
Later, he arrives at Necronomicons location where he finds three books in place of one, but he manages to identify the correct one.
As per the words of Wise Man, Ash need to pronounce the magic verse ‘Klaatu Barada Nikto’ correctly in order to take the evil book safely from the unholy land of deadites.
Unfortunately, Ash forgets the last word and tries to trick the book by mumbling the missing word. Sheila was captured by a Flying Deadite (Nadine Grycan) and transforms her into a Deadite.
It is very intriguing to see how he manages to make an army of medieval soldiers against the skeletal Deadite Army and wins the battle and saves Sheila.
After this, he returns back to his own time.In the final scene, Ash is telling this story to one of his male co-worker (Ted Raimi) at a S-Mart store about his weird adventure.
But after this, a Deadite starts creating troubles in the store as he again spelled the last word incorrectly while reciting the story. By this time, Ash slays the creatures and the story ends with Ash’s heart winning dialogue.
Verdict:
The movie shows an intense battle between living and dead. It is full of thrill to see how Ash kills the monsters and the entire Army of Darkness.
Army of Darkness is an amazing horror movie that is full of action, drama and thrillers. All characters have played their part well. It’s kind of a stylish, comic book like horror trilogy that is absolutely fun to watch.
