The teasers were released in the first week of July,within a fortnight of the first release of teasers, the song was in the market and the audience were in love with the track..as evident from iTunes sales and Spotify streaming data.

Debuting at the 2nd spot Billboard 200 charts, selling 924,000 in it's first month in the U.S.

"Cold Water" would also dislodge Drake's "One Dance" from the top of British charts, pouring cold water on Drake's ambitions of becoming the UK's longest-running number one, a recording held by Bryan Adams' "Everything I Do (I Do It For You)" for more than 25 years and still stands good.

The official version was later remixed, adding new verses and guest vocals by the famous rapper Gucci Mane.

The remixed version was not out until late August 2016 where Mane has replaced few vocals by Justin Bieber though this version was not released on iTunes.

This mid-tempo dance hall flavored single has Euro Club music influence written all over it.

"Cold Water" has vibrant electronic chords with matching coastal beats coupled with heavy pop influence, leaving a lasting imprint on one’s mind... that goes well with sugar coated lyrics which gets easily wrapped around the listener's tongue.

This song was the first number one single for Major Lazer and MØ, who had tasted success in 2015 with "Lean On" which had sold over 11 million copies across the globe, certified platinum in U.S, U.K, Spain, Belgium, Denmark,Italy, New Zealand and Australia.

For Justin Bieber, this is his fourth single that ruled the charts at the top 5 spots, although not his best selling single..that honor truly belongs to "Sorry" , "Baby", "What Do You Mean" , "Where Are U Now" and "BoyFriend".
