The song “Black Beatles” is an energetic Trap Hip Hop song which became an instant hit among the listeners. There is a rap portion in the song sung by rapper Gucci Mane, which he absolutely 'killed it'.
The singer Duo, Swan Lee and Slim Jxmmi debuted with an album Sremm Life in the year 2015. They released two songs from the album earlier in 2016 which could not create a rage among the listeners.
They needed a hit song badly to come with a bang. Producer of their album Mike Will held an emergency meeting, where he had some beats in mind. The technical Bass beats struck the chord with the duo and they came up with the theme of Rock Star lifestyle.
The duo always wanted to create such songs which are weird but gets accepted by the listeners. Most of Rae Sremmurd songs have all kind of weird references which are quite unusual and mostly used by heavy metal singers.
The song has so much of ebullient lyrics which have a constant melody. There is a lot of swag and sway in their style and attitude which can be seen while in the video song as well.
They are playing guitars, screaming in front of Crowd and give a damn to everything as if they are here just to rock the world.
There is a tinge of incompleteness in the chorus of the song, while Swae ended each of his lines in the low note. The most interesting part in the song was the echo of the words in a falsetto way which was quite inviting.
Not many know that this super-possessive beat of “Black Beatles” is very similar to NetFlix's horror-thriller-scifi web TV show Stranger Things theme song.
Mike Will roped in his rapper friend Gucci for the rap portion and it was his first collaboration with the Hip Hop duo. The recording of the song was interesting as the song was recorded in the studio ónly a few days before it's official release.
Also, Gucci was released from prison 2 or 3 days before the actual recording began. The success f this track has given a new lease of life to Gucci Mane's sagging musical career.
With 435 million YouTube views to date, the bare bodied singers with sun glasses and guitars was an instant hit among the YouTubers. Many fans called “Black Beatles” the best song or rather the best beat of 2016.
When compared with 2016's other Trap songs..which had fast-paced beats, “Black Beatles” had a weird, ticking rhythmic sinister beat which would eventually take control of the listeners mind, making them play the song again and again.
This is evident from the many YouTube comments for the song, where the YouTubers have commented that they just couldn't stop listening to the song.
“Black Beatles” became very popular among the teens and college students because of the Mannequin challenge - where a person stays motionless as the camera rolls.
Many Rae Sremmurd fans believed that every second of the “Black Beatles” music video posed a Mannequin challenge, when paused.
Billboard magazine has not credited the origin of Mannequin challenge to Rae Sremmurd even though they were the first to perform the #MannequinChallenge during their Novemeber 3rd 2016, Denver Live concert, 8 days after the original #MannequinChallenge video was posted on YouTube by the Edward White High Shool students in Jacksonville, Florida.
“Black Beatles” was a huge hit in the U.S, selling more than 1 million copies, outside States the song reached the Top 10 in 19 countries, including Scotland, Denmark, Ireland, Belgium, Slovakia, Finland, Netherlands, Spain, France, Australia, Norway, Sweden, Lebanon, Canada, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany and Czech Republic.
