The Chainsmokers - Paris(#ad)
Let’s go to Paris? The idyllic city that is synonymous with an exotic getaway all of us want to escape to when things get a bit overwhelming at work or home.
Not all of us can go to Paris though, so we have “Paris: a sentimental yearning for a reality that isn’t genuine; a fantasy that evokes nostalgia or daydreams”.
This "Paris" is that single electronic pop-duo The Chainsmokers released in January 2017, their first original song of 2017. "Paris" is a metaphor for escape from ‘real’.
As the fantastically popular tech-boys, Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall, share, "Paris" is about “escaping your reality, a reality often void of excitement and in your mind being somewhere else with someone else.”
The duo share that the song was inspired from a similar life situation that Drew had seen a friend in.
"Paris" features un-credited vocals from New York city singer-songwriter Emily Warren, who previously co-wrote the duo's "Don't Let Me Down" and "Until You Were Gone".The single reached the top 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100. It peaked at number six, becoming the duo's fourth top 10 entry.
A remix package for "Paris" has been released too – it features reworked versions of the song by VINAI, LOUDPVCK, Pegboard Nerds, Jewelz & Sparks, Party Thieves and FKYA.
The single has sold more than 2 million units worldwide. "Paris" also headlines the duo’s debut full-length album Memories… Do Not Open.
The album was released on April 7, 2017 and consists of all-new music, including a collaboration with Coldplay "Something Just Like This".
The album’s theme is nostalgia and the duo shared on social media,a cryptic message to their fans.. “We have been put in this box of who we are supposed to be and what people think of us and now we are literally taking that box and showing you what is really inside us.”
The boys kicked off their North America Memories: Do Not Open tour on April 13. The duo will take a special guest on the tour – a fan.
They were impressed with the fan’s piano cover of "Paris" (he’d earlier done one for "Closer" too). Well, good luck fan!
The single has two widely viewed videos. The lyric video stars Instagram star Alexis Ren and has had 218 million views on YouTube till date (April ’17)! The music video stars Victoria's Secret model Martha Hunt.
Nobody could have gone through 2016 without hearing any of the music released by The Chainsmokers. They were on every radio & TV channel and stayed put on the charts, single after single.
Nominated for 3 GRAMMYs, the boys walked away with a GRAMMY for Best Dance Recording for "Don’t Let Me Down", featuring Daya.
The indie-pop-EDM genre-blending duo has now been in the top 10 on the Hot 100 for an unbroken 49 weeks, third only to Drake at 51 weeks and Katy Perry at 69 straight weeks.

Album - Memories...Do Not Open
We were staying in Paris
To get away from your parents
And I thought, "Wow
If I could take this in a shot right now
I don't think that we could work this out”
Out on the terrace
I don't know if it's fair but I thought "How
Could I let you fall by yourself
While I'm wasted with someone else”
If we go down then we go down together
They'll say you could do anything
They'll say that I was clever
If we go down then we go down together
We'll get away with everything
Let's show them we are better
Let's show them we are better
Let's show them we are better
We were staying in Paris
To get away from your parents
You look so proud
Standing there with a frown and a cigarette
Posting pictures of yourself on the internet
Out on the terrace
We breathe in the air of this small town
On our own cuttin' class for the thrill of it
Getting drunk on the past we were livin' in
If we go down then we go down together
They'll say you could do anything
They'll say that I was clever
If we go down then we go down together
We'll get away with everything
Let's show them we are better
Let's show them we are
Show them we are
Let's show them we are
Show them we are
Let's show them we are better
We were staying in Paris
Let's show them we are better
Let's show them we are
Show them we are
Let's show them we are
Show them we are
Let's show them we are better
If we go down then we go down together
They'll say you could do anything
They'll say that I was clever
If we go down then we go down together
We'll get away with everything
Let's show them we are better
We were staying in Paris (If we go down)
