The song “Malibu” is the lead single from her sixth studio album Younger Now and it was written by Oren Yoel and Miley Cyrus and later produced by Oren Yoel.
The song premiered on Beats 1 on 11 May 2017, and then it was released for digital streaming and downloading by RCA Records.
The song’s lyrics are about her relationship with Liam. Music critics viewed the song as an indication that Miley is becoming a mellower artist and she is moving from her previous controversial image.
“Malibu” is her ninth top ten entry on the US Billboard Hot 100 at number ten.
The music video for the song which currently has more than 310 million views on YouTube was released on 11 May 2017, and it was directed by Diane Martel and Miley Cyrus.
Upon it's release, the video garnered more than 50 million views in the first week.
