After being nominated for two 2017 BET Hip Hop Awards and Soul Train Music Award for Rhythm and Bars Award, the track won single of the Year at the BET Awards.
As her first single with a major record label, Cardi’s song relates to her life as a stripper in the past, which was received with high regards by critics and writers at large.
USA Today commended her natural approach to the track while her lyrics and the beat got everyone hooked.
Her live performances saw her sing the track at the 2017 BET Awards after party on June 25, the Wendy Williams Show on July 18, OVO Fest on August 7, 2017 MTV Video Awards pre-show on August 27, and at the 12th Annual BET Hip Hop Awards.

Cardi B considers herself a real-life hustler and though she was recently kicked out of a hotel for smelling weed, she does not take drugs or alcohol.
However, she is being sued for using Kevin Brophy’s image without consent. He is a male model whose back appears on the cover of her mix-tape Gangsta Bitch.
Released from her 2017 album, Invasion of Privacy, "Bodak Yellow" was almost entirely shot in Dubai, UAE, with Cheetahs, Sports Cars and funny looking sheikhs.
This song is Cardi B's take on religious division, male dominance, racism and the struggles of a westerner in an eastern country.
In the music video Cardi B, is projected as an Arabian queen, filled with all the riches of the world.
She throws away her wealth gambling with filthy rich sheikhs and billionaire businessmen.
This specific scene has garnered much focus and attention because, women in the middle east are seldom allowed to go outside without a burqa (including Royals), cannot drive and must never go to a place of recreation without a male companion.
If these rules are broken, women can be hanged without a trial.
Cardi B is not afraid to take on the antiquated, draconian laws of the middle east and she does so, without revealing any of her treasured assets.
Throughout the music video Cardi never flaunts her chiseled body and she is always fully clothed.
J White Did It's tune and Cardi's sensational rapping alone, took "Bodak Yellow" to the no.1 spot in the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
The song has more than 700 million views on YouTube with 5.1 million likes.
