Released by MCA records on January 31, 1989, "Every Little Step" was Bobby Brown’s fourth single from his album Don’t Be Cruel.
Written and produced by Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and Antonio Reid, the track peaked on the Hot Black Singles chart and became number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In the UK Singles chart, the song took the number six position. In 1990, Bobby celebrated the 32nd Grammy Award event with a trophy for the Best Male RandB Vocal Performance.
The track was an inspiration from Reid’s relationship with Pebbles which led to it's release, followed by an accompanying video directed by Alex Kashishian.
So far, the track has attracted covers from various artists including Play on their album Don’t Stop the Music, Mercury4 on their debut album, Usher on his 1999 album Live, and CBD on their 2017 album, Tailored for Now.
In films/TV series, it has been featured on The X Factor (tenth series) and the video game Sonic the Hedgehog.
It has been viewed over 42 million times on YouTube with several remixes underway. He met the legendary icon Whitney Huston and they got married in 1992.
He was arrested for hitting Whitney in 2003, a scandal that led to the rise of their family reality show, Being Bobby Brown but that was short-lived since they divorced two years later.
Before the show, Bobby’s career had been on the down low, but that did not stop the couple from doing drugs together, where he claims Whitney lured him into the hard stuff.
Over the years, the number of lives lost he has encountered has taken a toll on him but his major regret was not helping Houston and their daughter.
His wake up call came when he was put in jail back in 2013 for 55 days and that is when he decided to work on being sober and clean.
