thank u, next - ariana grande(#ad)
Ariana's first no.1 Billboard Hot 100 hit, “thank u, next” was not just an other song, for arianators, it is an 'anthem', a timeless classic that transcends generation of music, showing the resilience of a little girl, who never gives up in life.
“thank u, next” is based on a true story, the numerous heart breaks suffered by Ariana and how after every set back, she soars like an eagle instead of getting drowned by the insensitive media and of course, her haters.
The song documents all her ex-boyfriends and analysis in depth, the reason for her breakups.
The very first verse of “thank u, next” lyrics, deals with Ariana and Big Sean's breakup (from August 2014 to March 2015), due to her busy schedule and lack of chemistry with Big Sean.
Next comes Ricky Alvarez, one of the luckiest background dancers ever, he not only dated Ariana Grande for a year and a half ( 2015 to June 2016), but was a source of envy to his fellow dancers, male celebrities and everyone who had fantasied Ariana (including Bishop Charles Ellis).
Rumor has it, that Ricky Alvarez and Ariana, spent more time on the bed together than dancing.
Next comes her most unfortunate ex-lovers, Pete Davidson and Mac Miller.“thank u, next” was written almost immediately after Ariana's break up with Pete Davidson and is indeed (sort of) a partial dedication to Pete.
Ariana finally admits that she instantly fell for Pete and almost married him (if not for Mac Miller's death).
As the song progresses, the lyrics are in sync' with the melody, as Ariana thanks her ex-lovers, for making her strong, resilient and patient.
She further dwells on Mac Miller's death and how it affected her mentality (as well as her relationship with Pete) but does indeed admit, that the relationship had to end, because it was too 'toxic' , a reference to Mac Miller's drug addiction.
As the lyrics end, Ariana focuses on her future (boy friend), and how much she would love her mother, walk her down the aisle, with the man of her dreams and that too..only once in her life.
And finally, Ariana thanks her dad for deserting her mom, when she was just 9 years old. A life changing event that left an everlasting impression on Ariana's 'frame of mind'...making her self reliant, strong and an independent woman, that she is today.
The music video starts with a teen, who became pregnant (after falling prey to a Twitter rumor, that Ariana was pregnant), so that she could time the birth of her baby along with Ariana's baby.
Then a single college football player, boasts on how Ariana , called his hair 'sexy' on social media.
Next up is an odd looking couple, when the female partner confesses, on breaking off her engagement (just like Ariana, who broke off with Pete) and living with a guy who proposed to her.
While the male partner, who claims that, a snoring Ariana sounds like the song "Fantasia", if you record her snoring and play it backwards.
In the next clip a 'dude' says Ariana is a lesbian and dates a chick called Aubrey, calling her sick.
Then speaks a college cheerleader, who punched herself on the face, just because Ariana said to be honest to God and oneself.
The music video was a homage to movies which she grew up with, like..Going On 30, Mean Girls, Bring It On and Legally Blonde has celebrity cameos from Jonathan Bennett,Jennifer Coolidge, Troye Sivan Collee Ballinger, Elizabeth Gillies, Matt Bennett, Daniella Monet, Stefanie Drummond,Gabi DeMartino and of course the cool Kris Jenner, who plays the role of Ariana's mom.
The first five minutes of the music video shows Ariana's breakup with her four boyfriends, the ending is indeed quite strange, even for the die hard arianators, as she does an awkward dance with a bunch of girls, which was recorded by Ariana's mom (played by Kris Jenner) inside the auditorium. .
This so called 'Christmas dance' for her school graduation ceremony, is probably the clumsiest, that Ariana has ever danced and yes, it is supposed to be that way.
“thank u, next” has more than 235 million views on YouTube with 8.5 million likes, the song has it's own Live chat box right next to the music video (which YouTube seldom gives to any artist) ,for arianators to adore, praise and worship goddess Ariana time and again.
