The single became immensely popular in Latin America with the remixed version by Wisin y Yandel. The single has sold more than 0.5 Million units in the US itself.
"It’s such a classic and such a happy summer song. It’s just iconic and timeless," Paris told The Daily Dish to celebrate a decade of the hit single in 2016.
"So I’m so proud of that song, and I love that still today I have people coming up to me, talking about how much they love that song and the video. So it feels good to have made such a classic hit."
"Shooting the music video was so much fun, and I had the best time doing it, and was so proud when it came out and everyone loved it so much," Hilton told Billboard.
In the sultry black and white music video, Paris frolicks in the sand and flirts with her photographer during a photo-shoot.
“Stars are Blind” is the lead single on her first and only full-length album Paris. It gave Paris, the brand, another dimension.
She was a rich celebrity who was widely followed & publicly scrutinized. She was a reality TV star who featured in The Simple Life with then BFF Nicole Richie.
She’d acted in a few films (Nine Lives, House of Wax) & released a couple of perfumes.
She’d also written two autobiographies, Paris was a brand, a pop-culture legend who carefully honed her social presence to become the ultimate celebrity.
This was in the early 2000’s, before the influx of the Kardashian brand. When Paris got behind the mike for “Stars are Blind”, her critics were in line, ready to slam her.
However, the hotel heiress was serious about this new career maneuver. She launched her own boutique label ‘Heiress Records’ in collaboration with Warner Bros. and begun work on her debut album.
Co-writer & co-producer Fernando Garibay shared, “At the time, she was at the height of her fame, and there was a lot of resentment.
There’s fall out, because sometimes that lifestyle can come across the wrong way to the underprivileged and the disenfranchised. It’s understandable. I knew she was a really kind person.
There’s a reality that people don’t see. I’m like, “I have to make her likable to everybody.” Garibay confirms that no auto tune was used in making the record.
It comes as no surprise that today Paris Hilton has reinvented herself as a DJ. And she proudly closes every set with “Stars are Blind”.
