Celebration - Madonna(#ad)
The all-time queen of pop dance and America's sweetheart Madonna released “Papa Don’t Preach” on June 11, 1986, from her third studio album True Blue.
The track was hated by feminists and adored by pro-lifers as it tells a story of a girl being dominated by men starting with her father.
It sources out the fact that motherhood should be celebrated no matter the circumstances and since the era this track was released tramped on the then belief of a woman.
Madonna sang her heart out telling the world that women should be whatever they want without being controlled.
In the song, the girl refuses to let go of her true love and deciding her own future, contrary to what her father wants.
“Papa Don’t Preach" was a commercial success and it performed well internationally by becoming to on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and it's video was directed by James Foley.
The track received both positive and negative reviews from established critics and in 1987, “Papa Don’t Preach” scored a nomination for the Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the 29th Grammy Awards, but lost to Barbra Streisand.
1987 saw her premiere the track live during the Who’s That Girl tour and upon dedicating the song to the then Pope, she made enemies at the Vatican.
She performed again in Japan on June 22, 1987, and Italy in September the same year. In 2004 and 2012, she performed live during the Re-invention World Tour and the MDNA Tour (where she pulled down her bra and exposed her nipple) respectively.
It has sold over 1 million copies in the US only and over 51 million YouTube views and counting. So far, she has faced several lawsuits and left the world in awe by lip-locking with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera at the 2003 award show.

Madonna - Papa Don't Preach - Lyrics
Release Date - June 11, 1986
Album - True Blue
Papa I know you're going to be upset
'Cause I was always your little girl
But you should know by now
I'm not a baby
You always taught me right from wrong
I need your help, daddy please be strong
I may be young at heart
But I know what I'm saying
The one you warned me all about
The one you said I could do without
We're in an awful mess
And I don't mean maybe, please
Papa don't preach I'm in trouble deep
Papa don't preach, I've been losing sleep
But I made up my mind, I'm keeping my baby, hm
I'm gonna keep my baby, hm
He says that he's going to marry me
We can raise a little family
Maybe we'll be all right
It's a sacrifice
But my friends keep telling me to give it up
Saying I'm too young, I ought to live it up
What I need right now is some good advice, please
Papa don't preach, I'm in trouble deep
Papa don't preach, I've been losing sleep
But I made up my mind, I'm keeping my baby, hm
I'm gonna keep my baby, ooh ooh
Daddy, daddy if you could only see
Just how good he's been treating me
You'd give it some blessing right now
'Cause we are in love
We are in love (in love), so please (so)
Papa don't preach, I'm in trouble deep
Papa don't preach, I've been losing sleep
But I made up my mind, I'm keeping my baby, hm
I'm gonna keep my baby, ooh ooh
Papa don't preach, I'm in trouble deep
Papa don't preach, I've been losing sleep
Papa don't preach, I'm in trouble deep
Papa don't preach, I've been losing sleep
Papa don't preach (Oh, I'm gonna keep my baby)
Papa don't preach (Ooh)
Papa don't preach (Don't you stop loving me daddy)
Papa don't preach (I know I'm keeping my baby)
