“Speed of Light” was released on August 14, 2015, by Parlophone and BMG records from Iron Maiden’s sixteenth studio album The Book of Souls.
It was written by Adrian Smith, Brice Dickinson and produced by Kevin Shirley; however, the music video was directed and produced by Llexi Leon who is also the creator of the comic book series Eternal Descent.
“Speed of Light” is about traveling to space at a speed of light and going to unexplored regions.
During their Book of Souls World Tour, Iron Maiden performed the track in Manchester on 8/5/2017, Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Cape Town in South Africa, and in 2016, they went live in Denver and Wacken among others.
Bruce is the lead vocalist; Dave, Adrian and JanickGers play guitar; Steve Harris is the co-producer and plays bass guitar while Nicko McBrian brings the track to life with an outstanding drumming expertise.
It's release inspired the tracks transformation into 8-bit gaming program playable on Iron Maiden’s official site.
“Speed of Light” has over 18 million views on YouTube but the band has had it's ups and downs that include the departure of their lead singer Bruce in 1993.
He came back in 1999 but in 2013, the band lost Clive Burr even though he wasn’t in the group.
During his time with the Iron Maiden in the early 90s, Clive’s drumming was a major component in the group’s individual talents.
They are currently being sued for breach of copyright regarding “Hallowed Be Thy Claim” and the song “The Nomad”.
Though he is cancer free now, sources reveal that Bruce Dickinson suffered a tongue cancer that is said to come as a result of too much oral sex.
However, none of the challenges have deterred the band from giving their fans the best music.
