Calvin Harris and Rihanna have once again teamed up for another hit. The pair teamed up six years ago where Rihanna featured Calvin Harris in her bestselling song to date “We Found Love”.
This time the pair has again come up with Calvino Harris featuring Rihanna in his hit “This Is What You Came For” , the song was co-written by Calvin Harris, a Scottish DJ, and Taylor Swift.
“This Is What You Came For” was then sung and released in April 2016 through Westbury Road and Columbia Records.
This time instead of Tylor Swift singing the vocal, Rihanna is the one singing the vocals in the song.
Rihanna and Calvin Harris previously collaborated in Rihanna’s sixth album, which included the “We Found Love” hit and has since became the top-selling track of Rihanna Hit to date.
The single debuted at number two on UK Charts and peaked at number three on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts. “This Is What You Came For” on the other hand received mixed reviews.
Many criticized the single, while some had positive reviews,as the song had a very catchy beat. “This Is What You Came For” is a chilled-out, joyful club track with a modern flavor.
Emil Nava with Martin Copen, the Director of photography, officially directed the song music video. The video was edited by Ellie Johnson and released on YouTube on 16 June 2016.
Since it was released, the video has over 1.8 billion views on YouTube. In the music video, a giant white box is shown sitting different places in the video such as a misty forest and field.
Rihanna is dressed in a sparkly blue jumpsuit standing and dancing in the box. Calvin Harris makes a brief cameo appearance, driving a Lamborghini and the video ends with Rihanna walking outside.
As of October 2016, 1.2 million copies of the single had been sold in the US alone and much more in other countries.
