Fatboy Slim - Right Here Right Now(#ad)
British artist Fatboy Slim released "Right Here Right Now" on April 19, 1999, from his fourth album, You’ve Come a Long Way Baby.
Thanks to Skint/Astralwerks Records, the track hit number two on the UK Singles Chart and secured a Mixmag’s vote as the tenth greatest record ever.
It was written by Norman Cook, Dale Peters and Joe Walsh, while Slim helped with producing.
Created by Hammer & Tongs, the music video begins with an ancient setting from a long time ago when evolution was recorded and ends with the modern man sitting down on a bench at night.
During the 2001 NBA finals, the Philadelphia 76ers used the song while the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers adapted "Right Here Right Now" as their entrance track at the Super Bowl XL, XLIII, and XLV.
On top of that, football teams like Manchester United and Arsenal still use the track for entrance as well as several Australian Football Leagues.
In films, "Right Here Right Now" is featured in Any Given Sunday, The Skulls, Big Fat Liar, and Crank among others.
Various TV series have adapted the song in their soundtracks like Third Watch (1999), East Enders(2000), 20 to 1 (2010) and Veronica Mars.
With over 16 million views on YouTube, the music has a melody sampled from "Ashes, the Rain & I", a track by James Gang.
As a reputable and established DJ, Fatboy Slim made the news in 2002 after staging a free beach party in Brighton, Europe.
Among the thousands who attended the event, a 40-year-old man died of a heart attack, several people were injured and many were left stranded due to inadequate transport.
After the incident, Brighton restricted beach parties and Fatboy said that he would probably never host such party again. However, the artist continues to bring life to the dance floor globally.
