 Hardwired...To Self-Destruct - Metallica(#ad)

“Moth Into Flame” is a song by the Metallica, a heavy metal band and it is the second song from their tenth studio album Hardwired to Self-Destruct.

The song debuted on September 26, 2016, during the band’s appearance on The Howard Stern Show and the official music video uploaded to the band’s official YouTube page a few hours later.

The song also made a live debut at Webster Hall on 27th September 2016 at the 30th anniversary of the former bassist Cliff Burton’s death.

About seven months ago, news broke that Metallica had been served with a cease and desist letter from a metal band Opprobrium. This is on the grounds that “Moth Into Flame” was too close to “Hunger for Power” by Opprobrium the death metal band.

The song was recorded in 1988 when Opprobrium was known as Incubus (they changed their name in 1999 to avoid conflict with another band who had copyrighted the name).

However, Opprobrium denied sending the cease and desist letter saying that someone is spreading the lies behind their backs. The controversy began when Exclaim received documents from Micheal Howard of Brutal Records where he stated that the song was a close duplication of “Hunger for Power” which he claimed to own the copyright.

However, Opprobrium denied this saying they were fans of Metallica themselves and the person claiming to have copyright for their song is not true and they hold all the rights to their songs.

The song became more famous after this, and the popularity was increased when Metallica performed the song together with Lady Gaga at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards on 12th February 2017.

The song was also used by TBS an American television company’s ELEAGUE for the second season of the program and it's Counter-Strike Major. The song currently has more than 25 million views on YouTube on their channel Metallica TV.
