“Numb” is a song by the famous American band Linkin Park. The band was not long ago hit by a drastic loss after one of its lead vocalists Chester Bennington committed suicide.
Chester committed suicide on 20th July 2017, and it was due to depression. He was one of the best singers of the last two decades and his death has left a huge void in the music industry.
According to Rolling Stones magazine, on the day that the news of Chester broke, the National Suicide Prevention Hotline received an increase of 14 percent in their calls.
The band held a tribute show for the star called Linkin Park and Friends Celebrate Life in Honor of Chester Bennington.
The concert was to commemorate the death of the singer and also to reaffirm the lives of everyone who felt touched or inspired by his music and to celebrate the act of living itself.
Michael Shinoda, the band's leader, introduced the song “In The End” from their album Hybrid Theory and emotions ran high when he asked the audience to perform Bennington’s vocals.
The song “Numb” is from their second studio album Meteora and it is the final track on the album.
It is one of the well-known and critically acclaimed Linkin Park’s song and it topped the Billboard Alternative Songs chart for twelve weeks and it also spent six weeks at the top of the charts in 2003 and 2004.
The song peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and it topped the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart where it was at the top for three weeks.
The music video for the song which currently has more than 695 million views on YouTube was directed by Joe Hahn, and it was done in an indoors scene of the band playing the song and an outdoor scene set in St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague.
