The Story Begins
With the time of Humans on earth inching closer and closer to a permanent end, a team of explorers decide to undertake one of the most daring missions ever in the history of mankind.
They have to travel beyond the galaxy and discover if mankind would ever be able find a planet similar to earth or even better a future among the stars.
Movie Plot
In a futuristic era of 21st century, farming has become increasingly difficult which has threatened humanity’s survival.
Joseph Cooper, a former NASA pilot discovers a pattern of dust made on the floor of his house due to gravity.
He goes to the secret NASA facility to get more information about this issue.
He is told that 48 years ago, a wormhole mysteriously appeared near Saturn which has opened paths to a distant galaxy with 12 potential planets that could become the new habitat of humans.
Twelve volunteers are willing to risk entering the worm hole, to travel and assess 12 planets’ near Gargantua, the worm hole.
Dr. Brand (Caine), a chief scientist at a secret NASA facility and Cooper's professor devises a 2 plan strategy to ensure a thriving human colony in one of those 12 planets near Gargantua.
As per Plan A, a jet propulsion theory based on Theory of Gravity which would use Earth's gravity to propel huge spaceships with a potential to carry several thousand humans, to slingshot itself into the worm hole.
His Plan B which is a 1000 times simpler than Plan A, is to simply ensure the continuity of human race in the 12 new planets..when a spaceship carrying 5000 frozen embryos is transferred, nurtured and developed into men and women in one of those 12 planets.
Later an aged Dr. Brand, on his deathbed reveals that Plan A would never feasible because he was never able to solve the gravitational singularities equations,is a bait for the selected Astronauts to dupe them so that Plan B can be executed...to transfer 5000 frozen human embryos to the new planet.
The crew were never told about this plan and all hell begins to break-loose once they enter the new galaxy through the wormhole, with limited fuel in supply, the crew starts disputing which planet they should explore first.
In their desperate attempt to save fuel,so that they can get back to earth, they start killing each other hoping the last man standing can maneuver the spaceship back to earth.
Mann attempts to kill Cooper by cracking open his helmet, accusing him of giving false data in hopes of being rescued, however Mann manages to kill Romilly after setting up a booby trap.
Cooper gets rescued by astronaut Amelia (Dr. Brand's daughter), finds out that the tesseract and the wormhole were created to communicate with Murphy (Cooper's daughter) and that he was the one to set up the pattern all along. He also comes up with the conclusion that the tesseract was made by someone from future.
Verdict
This flick is purely for science-fiction fans as there ain't much of comedy, romance, fast cars or spine chilling horror but still...Interstellar can make you sit at the edge of your seat, chewing your finger nails instead of popcorn.
