“You Got it All” is a song by an American band the Jets. The song was released on 2nd August 1986 as the fourth single from their debut studio album The Jets, 1985.
The song is written by Rupert Holmes who is most famous for a 1979 hit “Escape (The Pina Colada Song”).
The song features the band’s second youngest member of the group Elizabeth Wolfgramm the 13-year-old on the lead vocals.
The Jets are an American band from Minneapolis, Minnesota and it is comprised of brothers and sisters who perform R&B, Pop and dance music.
The band started performing in 1977 as a family band. They attended the School District 281 at Robbins dale Cooper High School when Don Powell who used to manage Stevie Wonder and David Bowie among other artists discovered the group.
Between 1985 and 1990, the group enjoyed worldwide success where they performed 3 world tours and produced 8 top ten hits.
The band originally called themselves Quasar, and they changed their name to The Jets on the suggestion of their new manager at that time Don Powell.
The song “You Got It All” entered the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number three in the US early 1987.
It also reached number two on the R&B chart and topped the adult contemporary chart for two weeks.
The song was featured in the film Jaws: The Revenge and the episodes of daytime soap operas General Hospital, Days of Our Lives, Another World and As The World Turns.
Britney Spears has also done her version of the song in 2000.
The music video for the song “You Got it All” by The Jets currently has more than 5.5 million views on YouTube which is quite remarkable for a pop song released at that time.
