The song was released as her album’s Joanne second single. The track was written by Hillary Lindsey, Gaga, and Mark Ronson and later produced by Blood Pop, Gaga, and Ronson.
According to them, the song grew naturally from a conversation that Gaga and Lindsey had one day and the title phrase was lifted from Gaga’s musings about men in her life.
The song is a pop song but with simple country influences. The lyrics of the song dwell on heartbreak and hope as well as Lady Gaga’s faith during the chorus which ultimately makes the song one with a positive message.
The song reached the top ten of the charts in the United States, Hungary, Switzerland, Slovakia, and Venezuela as well as top twenty in Italy, Canada, and Scotland.
The music video for the song which now has more than 87 million views on YouTube is directed by Andrea Gelardin and Ruth Hogben.
The video continues from where the video for her previous single “Perfect Illusion” had ended.
She performed the song at her Dive Bar Tour in 2016 to promote the song and on multiple TV appearances.
