P!nk - M!ssundaztood(#ad)
M!ssundaztood is P!nk’s biggest selling album to date. This is her second studio album, released in 2001, that propelled P!nk to global success, with critics giving it the thumbs-up as well.
The album marked a transition in her sound, with a more mature pop-rock than the dance-pop in her debut album Can’t Take Me Home.
It sold over 15 Million copies worldwide and spawned three Billboard Top 10 singles – “Get the Party Started”, “Don’t Let Me Get Me” and “Just Like a Pill”.
“M!ssundaztood” is the first track of the album and its upbeat and infectious mood is a prologue to the tracks that follow.
Alecia Moore (AKA P!nk), known for her whisky-tinged boom vocals and acrobatics, sings about how proud she is of herself and how happy she is to be herself.
For this album, P!nk dug into her own life for inspiration – the intensely personal album reflects honesty and her vulnerability as she sings of abuse, heartache, anger, strained relationships and her parents’ separation.
"The new album is very different from the last, but at the same time the core is still there, which is me," P!nk said about this album.
For this album, she pulled in 4 Non-Blondes lead-singer Linda Perry to help her write the songs.
P!nk was determined to work with Perry, with Bigger, Better, Faster, More! being one of her favorite albums.
She left a 10-minute message on Perry's answering machine begging Perry to work with her.
P!nk attributes the tone of this album to Perry’s inspiring her to bare herself. In M!ssundaztood P!nk moves away from the R&B and hip-hop sound found on her debut album.
Linda Perry wrote most of the songs for the album and also contributes guest vocals on "Lonely Girl".
Steven Tyler of Aerosmith and Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi have contributed vocals on "Misery".
M!ssundaztood defied expectations and catapulted P!nk into pop stardom, she was finally here to stay.
The album was nominated for the GRAMMY for Best Pop Vocal Album and the GRAMMY for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
P!nk was the second most-played female solo artist in the United Kingdom during the 2000s decade, behind only Madonna, who she attributes having a huge influence on her music, along with Janis Joplin.
Billboard named P!nk ‘Woman of the Year’ in 2013. She will be touring through 2017.

I'm comin' up,
So you better get this party started.
I'm comin' up,
So you better get this party started.
Get this party started on a Saturday night,
Everybody's waitin' for me to arrive.
Sendin' out the message to all of my friends,
We'll be lookin' flashy in my Mercedes Benz.
I got lotsa style, check my gold diamond rings,
I can go for miles, if you know what I mean
I'm comin' up,
So you better get this party started.
(I'm comin' up, I'm comin')
I'm comin' up,
So you better get this party started.
Pumpin' up the volume, breakin' down to the beat,
Cruisin' through the west side, we'll be checkin' the scene.
Boulevard is freakin' as I'm comin' up fast,
I'll be burnin' rubber, you'll be kissing my ass.
Pull up to the bumper, get out of the car
License plate says, stunner one number Superstar.
I'm comin' up,
So you better get this party started.
(I'm comin' up, I'm comin')
I'm comin' up,
So you better get this party started.
Get this party started.
Makin' my connection as I enter the room,
Everybody's chillin' as I set up the groove.
Pumpin' up the volume with this brand new beat,
Everybody's dancin' and they're dancin' for me.
I'm your operator, you can call anytime,
I'll be your connection to the party line.
I'm comin' up,
So you better get this party started.
(I'm comin' up, I'm comin')
I'm comin' up,
So you better get this party started.
