It was written by Jeff Fortgang and produced by Michael Omartian. Rod’s version hit number 10 on Billboard Hot 100 after surpassing The Persuaders version that was released in 1973.
The track talks about an unlucky guy with a miserable life, watching others move on with life, finding love, getting laid etc.
However, his fear of being fooled prevents him from risking his heart and drowns in self-pity throughout the song.
Twice, the track received a platinum certification in the UK and once in Canada.
Jerry Kramer and Wayne Isham directed the Music Video in 1984 and released it in two different versions.
So far, "Some Guys Have All the Luck" has received over 14 million YouTube views and counting after having sold over two million copies.
Other than the theatric epic production performed by Paul Metcalfe to celebrate Rod Stewarts’ successful career, Stewart was live at the Vina del Mar Fiesta 2014 performing the track while 1984 had him perform live to TV1.
The brand new theatrical production for the icon will feature "Some Guys Have all The Luck" in New Wimbledon Theater, Regent Theater, and the Grand Opera House on 30 November 2017, 17 May 2018, and 29 June 2018 respectively.
