"Stay with Me" is from Sam Smith's debut studio album In The Lonely Hour and it was released on 14th April 2014 in the US and 18 May same year in the UK.
The song was written by Sam Smith, William Philips and James Napier as a gospel-inspired ballad.
Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne received co-writer credits due to the similarity of the song to “I Won’t Back Down” one of Petty’s singles.
The song is Sam Smith's most successful song up to today. It reached number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number one in the UK Singles Chart.
The song won him a Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 2015.The music video for the song was released on 27th March 2014 on YouTube. Currently, the video has more than 818 million views.
