American rapper Flo Rida released “whistle” on May 24, 2012, through the Poe Boy Atlantic records.
As a single from his album Wild One (2012), Flo wrote it together with Tramar Dillard, Marcus Killian, David Glass, Breyan Isaac, Justin Franks, and Antonio Mobley.
DJ Frank E and Glass handled the production while Marc Klas fed directed the music video that was released on May 24, 2012.
It was met with mixed reviews upon its release but a majority praised its potential of becoming another hit while other critics became utterly disappointed by the message it unveiled.
However, the track was a commercial success becoming number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, Israel, Sweden, and Australia.
In the United Kingdom, Spain, Denmark,and Netherlands, the song became a top ten.
The music video was filmed in Acapulco, Mexico with various scenes and shots of several girls on the beach here and there.
By November 2012, the track had already sold over 3 million copies in the US only and was first performed live during The Voice Talent show and featured on the 74th episode of Glee (a musical television show) collecting over 134 million views and counting.
Flo Rida (TramarDilliard) has faced several lawsuits including an allegation over unpaid legal bills and child support among others.
In 2011, the artist was arrested for driving while drunk and on top of that, he has been caught up in scandals like paternity where Gloria Halloway believed her child was fathered by Flo.
Financial ruins over unpaid taxes that targeted his South Florida Estate; and dropping a collaboration with Chris Brown that cost the later endorsements.
According to Flo, he had recorded a great song with Chris but did not drop “Sweat” because of Rihanna and Brown Dispute. It was just business and his did not align with Chris’s.
