AC/DC decided to disband their band late 1979 when the lead singer Bon Scott died of an alcohol overdose.
It was not until the family and friends of the band members urged them to continue showing their full support, when AC/DC decided to carry on the legacy of Brain Scott.
There was so much gloom and doom surrounding the band in finding a lead singer, after many failed auditions before producer Robert Lange urged the band members to consider Brian Johnson lead singer of the lesser known Aussie band Geordie.
Other members of AC/DC were impressed with Brian Johnson's vocals including the most popular member of the band, lead guitarist Angus Young.
In less than 6 months of Bon Scotts death AC/DC released Back In Black on July 25th 1980 from Sydney, Australia.
AC/DC were apprehensive of the albums success since they had to re-record, re-master every single track from producer Robert Lange's London studio as their original recording at a Bahamas studio was a nightmare filled with scary thunderstorms, incessant rains and a flooded studio.
To commemorate late Bon Scott the album cover was a blank black paper with AC/DC written on it, just like Aussie cricket players pinning a mini black ribbon on their white shirts back in the 80s to honor cricketers who had passed away recently.
Expecting nothing sensational from Back In Black, AC/DC were taken aback when Back In Black shook the the charts many months long, throughout Europe, USA and native Australia.
Topping the charts with ease, AC/DC's fortunes would change when they organized a world tour called Back in Black Tour on 29th June 1980 which had more than 100 concerts im UK, France, Australia, USA, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, Spain and Belgium.
Back in Black world tour self promoted their album and it was no surpise that Back in Black became the second most sold album in the history of charted music after Michael Jackson's Thriller.
