U2 - Songs of Innocence(#ad)
The rock song "Every Breaking Wave" is a result of the Irish Rock Band U2 together with the recording label Island.
The track comes from the band’s thirteenth studio album, Songs of Innocence, and produced by Danger Mouse with Ryan Tedder.
Before its official release on December 9th, 2014, the truck was debuted with a live performance in August 2010 while the group was on their U2 360 Tour.
The music received several alterations and changes as the band continued with their album. It was met by critics with both positive and discouraging reviews.
On the positive side, Ben Patashnik of NME commended the group for a wonderful lyric; Jon Pareles of The New York Times was impressed by the group altogether while Sal Cinquemani gave a thumb up for the perfect instrumental blend.
Unfortunately, Carl Wilson of Spin was not impressed by how the group sounded. The Guardian saw the group’s desperation to sound like Coldplay but that did not stop Rolling Stone from ranking the song as the third best song in 2014.
Directed by Aoife McArdle, the music video shows the violence in North Ireland back in the 1980s which is truncate from the film Every Breaking Wave.
On 23rd of February, the video was released 11 days after the film premiered."Every Breaking Wave" has collected over 14 million views and sold almost 100,000 copies despite the group being hated by the Americans especially the Apple streaming company.
This was a result of their latest album Songs of Innocence. Their St. Louise live performance was canceled after a violent protest and at the time, the town’s police department was not in a position to protect the band.
However, the world’s biggest rock band is working on their next project as they continue maintaining their superstar status.
U2 - Every Breaking Wave - Lyrics
Release Date - December 9,2014
Album - Songs of Innocence
Every breaking wave on the shore
Tells the next one there'll be one more
And every gambler knows that to lose
Is what you're really there for
Summer I was fearless
Now I speak into an answer phone
Like every fallen leaf on the breeze
Winter wouldn't leave it alone
Alone
If you go
If you go your way and I go mine
Are we so
Are we so helpless against the tide
Baby, every dog on the street
Knows that we’re in love with defeat
Are we ready to be swept off our feet
And stop chasing every breaking wave
