The official UEFA Euro anthem for 2016, "This One’s For You" is produced by DJ David Guetta and features Swedish powerhouse singer Zara Larsson.
The UEFA Euro 2016 tournament kicked off on June 10, 2016 with the performance of "This One’s For You" by Guetta and Zara Larsson at the opening ceremony at Stade de France.
The official anthem was recorded with help from one million fans around the world through the help of an online app.
In 2015 Guetta announced that fans could get involved with the anthem - Guetta took the fans' recordings and mixed them into the official Euro 2016 anthem.
He said, “Music, like sport brings people together, so I'm trying something very special and asking people around the world to unite and add their voices to this anthem."
All the participants received a unique piece of personalised artwork and were a part of a draw to win tickets for the opening game and the opportunity to meet Guetta.
The winner of the draw was a VIP guest at Guetta’s free concert on the eve of the tournament underneath the Eiffel Tower, on June 9, 2016.
These fan recordings were played every time a goal was scored. The UEFA Euro 2016 closed on July 10 with a final performance of the anthem.
"This One’s For You" peaked at no.11 on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs and ended up at 33rd position on the year-end chart. It has sold almost 1 million copies worldwide.
The song is signature Guetta, uplifted by Zara Larsson’s strong vocals.
The video features Larsson with vignettes of football fans, young and old, from around world, including non-Euro countries.
Emphasizing that the UEFA Euro is watched and enjoyed by fans from all across the world and not just in Europe; that football has become a global phenomenon and that it unites the world.
Larsson at 19 has a multi-platinum album (“Introducing”) out already. She recently came out with her debut International album So Good in March 2017.
Guetta is amongst the first wave of DJs to make EDM popular globally. He was declared Best International DJ in 2007 and Best House DJ consecutively in 2008 & 2009.
He used to perform at various nightclubs in his native France before achieving international success with his 2009 album One Love.
