It's been directed, produced, and co-written by Kubrick, who's fabulously presented the character of Dr.Harford, played by Cruise, embarking into a dangerous exploration into the world of fantasies and sex outside of marriage.
The movie generated a lot of controversies because of its explicit sex content and much of it had to be digitally camouflaged.

After listening to his wife Alice's frank confession of almost diving into an extra-marital affair with another man, Dr. Hartford is shocked to the core.
Alice's detailed account of her overwhelming attraction she had for the man, made Dr Hartford quite jealous.
He is further hit with a dire emotion of seeking the same experience his wife was about to experience. And, resultant, he is now lusting to have sex outside of marital boundaries.
His head and heart coming from two different places, Dr. Harford does bravely refuse a few sexual advances and chances here and there.
But he finally hits the nail after he bumps into an old pal Nick Nightingale, who has turned into a musician and has a connection with sex parties.Nightingale shares his stories where he plays piano blindfolded.
The parties typically have men, in costumes and masks while women are free in their natural beauty.
So, what next. Dr Harford couldn't be more intrigued and gets hold of a costume and mask to eventually fulfill his burning desire of lust and fantasy.He duly leaves for the party.
But there, someone recognizes him, even in the mask. He is warned of danger, that being at such a party could wreak havoc in his personal life.
He eventually pulls out of the party, reaches home only to find his mask and costume lying next to his sleeping wife.
Next morning both are inconsolable but soon after gather strength to embark a new beginning in their married life, this time with the cemented foundation of trust, everlasting love and faithfulness.
