Produced and Co-written by Robert John “Mutt” Lange, "Breathless" is a track by the Irish pop-rock group called the Corrs.
As the first single from their album In Blue, the track was released on July 18, 2000. It is about seduction and love with each stage of the relationship being a push towards taking the next.
The track scaled top on the charts all over the world introducing the group’s talent to the mass including being number one in Spain and maintaining a top position in the UK to date.
Directed by Nigel Dick, the video was filmed on May 24, 2000, at the Trona Airport in California. It was nominated for a Grammy Award for the Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals but unfortunately, it lost to Steely Dan’s track "Cousin Dupree".
The artists had an amazing time working with “Mutt” since his fame came with a major talent, a fun attitude, and the successful work with well-known artists like Shania Twain.
"Breathless" received mixed response from established critics but Steve McDonald of AllMusic selected the track as one of the best while Jane Stevenson of the jam was highly disappointed.
So far, it has garnered over 20 million views on YouTube after being a success throughout the year selling over 470,000 copies in the United Kingdom and Australia only.
During the production of the track and the video, the artists succumbed to heat exhaustion where Andrea and Sharon were rushed to the hospital but were back on feet the following day.
The video shooting took place in the Mojave Desert right outside Los Angeles and even though they were not prepared for the heat, the team went ahead and produced an outstanding work of art.
Considering the era the track was recorded, their natural talent is clear and beautiful. But the group split up on 2006 to pursue solo careers and raise their families.
