A Very Special Christmas (Volume 1)(#ad)

“The Little Drummer Boy” initially known as “Carol of the Drum” is a well-known Christmas song that is written by an American classical music composer and teacher Katherine Kennecott Davis in 1941.

The song was recorded in 1951 by a choir known as the Trapp Family Singers and released as a single on the choir’s first LP.

This version of the song was re-released successfully for several years. These were the first recordings of the song and since then, the song has been recorded many times.

The song was published by Davis and it was initially titled “Carol of the Drum”. The song was brought to wider prominence by the Austrian Trapp Family Singers after it appealed to them.

They recorded it for Decca records and shortly before they retired, their version of the song was credited to Davis solely and was published by Belwin-Mills.

The song was later produced by the Jack Halloran Singers in 1957 with a slightly altered arrangement for their album Christmas Is-A Comin on Dot records.

The lyrics of the song relate to a poor young boy that was summoned by the Magi to the Nativity of Jesus.

The boy did not have a gift for the infant and the boy who was a little drummer boy played his drum with Jesus’ mother Mary’s approval and he recalled that he played the best for the infant and he smiled at him.

Bob Seger is a singer, songwriter, pianist and guitarist and a locally successful Detroit area artist.

He released a version of the song together with the Silver Bullet Band on the Special Olympics Christmas charity album.

However, their version of the song noticeably excludes all the names and religious references. The song’s video has more than 300k views on YouTube.
