Randall "Memphis" Raines (Nicolas Cage) is forced to get back to the heist business because of his brother's failed attempt at a car robbery.
Raymond Calitri (Christopher Eccleston), the man who hires Kip, Randall's younger brother, is after his blood for failing and letting Police seize the 50 robbed cars.
While the detectives began investigating the robbery, Calitri wants Randall to finish the job of his brother to save his life. Kip is returned to his brother but with conditions.
For this task, Randall is given only 72 hours, and Kip will get killed if he fails. Randall accepts the task.
He brings together a crew and a mentor, and also calls for his ex lover to be part of his team.
Kip and his team mates join hands with Randall in the mission. A plan is made and 50 cars are marked to be stolen from different locations. The heist begins.
Most of the cars are robbed leaving a few. Unfortunately, that’s when a few evidences are picked by the detectives and start chasing the goons.
After a deadly encounter with the chasing detectives, Randall is able to deliver the last car to Calitri which he refuses to accept as the deadline has been crossed.
Calitri gives orders for the last car to be crush and Randall to be killed.
That’s when brother Kip’s team comes to older brother’s rescue.
Adding to confusion and chaos, the detectives jump into the ongoing action.
Calitri gets killed to his death in this brawl.
Randall has to finally explain his situation and gets to go free as his was a genuine case of saving his brother. Later he celebrates with his crew over a barbeque.
