The American rock band Starship released "Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us" on January 30, 1987. It was written by Albert Hammond, Diane Warren and produced by Narada Michael Walden with the help of Grunt/RCA records.
Upon release, the track hit number one in the US Hot 100 and the UK singles chart while in Europe, the song hit top ten.
At the 60th Academy Awards, "Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us" was nominated for the Best Original Song. It's music Video came early in late 1986, as a comedy film that has gathered over 25 million YouTube views to date.
It became an empowering gift for the Montreal Canadians NHL team after losing the 24th Conquest of the Stanley Cup, who adapted the track on their playoff and the winning season began.
It is featured in the Young and the Restless soap opera, Another World, and General Hospital (1988 episode).
Over the years, the song has been featured in various TV series and film and on February 2017, it aired during the 59th Annual Grammy Awards where Grace Slick donated the proceeds to the LGBTQ community.
Sales records show 500,000 copies sold in the US only by valentines of 1989 and in the UK, the track had already sold 500,000 copies by June 1, 1987.
In 2012, Starship was live at the Rewind Festival at Temple Island and gave an epic performance at the Rockfest 96'.
After years of fame and success, the band officially split up in 2015 after getting back together in 2014 to perform at the Skate and Surf Festival.
Alex Suarez and Ryland Blackinton left later on October 21, 2014, which was followed by the final break up on November 10, 2015.
They will be missed for their epic performances, talents and heated concerts, that left fans highly entertained.
