Directed by Herbert Ross, Footloose is a 1984 American musical drama flick.
The story is about a teenager, Ren McCormack, from Chicago, played by Kevin Bacon, who relocates to a small town, where music and dance have been banned by a minister of that area.
The film, did a business of $80 million in the US, is inspired from series of real life events in rural areas of Elmore City, Oklahoma.
Teenager Ren along with his mother move to a small town called Bomont to live with his aunt and uncle.
After reaching there, he quickly makes a new friend who tells him about the ban on dance and rock music in the area.
Ren falls in love with a girl named Ariel, whose father, Shaw Moore reverend in the church, doesn't approve of Ren's friendship with her.
Ariel already has a boyfriend who is not good with her.
Troubled by the no dancing laws, Ren takes his friends far away outside of Bomont to experience the joy of dancing. There he teaches them how to dance.
Ren presents his case before the city council and tries to inspire them about music and dance by quoting Bible verses, that proved Church's reverence or the art form for the purpose of joy de vivre.
The spiel makes an impact and Reverend Moore is moved and so is his wife, even though the council is still against them and also votes against him.
Later, however, after much persuasion from wife and talks with Ren and Ariel, Rev Moore lifts the ban on music when he sees people burning books that are dangerous for youth.
He realizes the ban on music had gone too far, and urges the people in the town to pray for the youth that's performing in the prom.
